The telecommunication industry is in permanent change. Long known technologies are used in parallel to newest developments. For transport and access network technologies SDH is still used, but alongside with IP, Ethernet and LSP.
The migration to Next Generation Networks is a challenge because the existing networks which base on established technologies still have to kept and used to optimize the economic efficiency.
The cell phone industry is even more affected because the roll-out of new networks means significantly higher costs. Mobile operators still run proved 2G and 3G technologies, but experiment with the forth generation: the LTE Advanced.
It is foreseeable that innovations will keep the market continuously busy within the oncoming years. Operators of telecommunication networks have to invest to last in the competition. The more important it is to invest in long lasting systems which develop with the market and which also optimally support operators in the future.
